Did fastboot tell you what the failure was? Sometimes they fail because the usb connection failed for a sec or something. You should still be able to get into EDL with no abl at all, so I would keep trying to get into EDL through the standard methods. If you flashed the abl to abl_b, it's possible that the system copied abl_b to abl_a, but I'm not 100% certain how the boot process handles this on this device.
Either way, EDL should work, so keep trying that. There are different methods available around online for the G8/G8s/G8x/v50 so try different ones if you aren't able to get it with the one you are using.
Edit: if you really can't get it into EDL, you could try restoring with a KDZ, but I don't think that would help, as I stated above it should work even with a completely empty partition table (iirc)
Can you tell me how to install TWRP thru magisk? I've been trying to complete this for 10 hours and the only part I can't do's install and boot TWRP! Does it matter whether on android 10/11/9?
