so i got tired of waiting on PE to build a new build for the Pixel 5a. so decided to build it myself from their website help files.

here is a 13 plus build. it appears to be up to 11.05

This build seems to work 100% on Google Fi! Thank you for this build!

cau u provide please a short guide or just sideload without any wipes if I'm on pe12?

most likely you will have to wipe going from pe12 to pe13

i boot into bootloader
then i fastboot boot trwp.img
then setup twrp for sideload
then adb sideload pe.img

i do not think you can successfully dirty flash pe12 to pe13. so i would backup everything first before attempting to flash

yes i use the unofficial trwp from that thread. the only difference is because i have everything backed up i do a fastboot -w (wipe) first before i boot into twrp. i always wipe my phone before installing a new version. so i dont keep a lot of stuff on my phone.

When you say no dirty flash, that means that you can ONLY upgrade from PE12 to PE13 with aa wipe of the data partition? No OTA? And I'm assuming you'd need Swift Backup to keep apps and app data in that case? Also, is there any real reason to upgrade to PE13 feature wise?

i just use the google drive backup to keep the apps, text, phone logs on a fresh install it will reinstall them. my contacts are synced to my gmail account so they always pull. photos are synced to google drive. i use nova launcher and it has a backup as well that will put my app icons back in the same spot. if you use google drive and use the app backup. the only bad part to the whole thing is i have to log into all of my apps again and setup a few of them.

i can post an ota. it does build one when i do a build, but i figured most people wanted the full rom.

my understanding is when changing versions you need to do a full wipe. because of the kernel being different. i know they have now grouped the kernel for 4a, 5 and 5a as one calling it redbull.

as for upgrading to 13? well i don't really see any major benefits a different camera app. for me the only plus is now my text messages dont disappear like they did or not show up at all. otherwise it seems like the same as 12 with newer security patches

Yeah, full ROM is a bit easier since all I have to do is unpack the payload.bin and pack the extracted images in a zip like the stock factory image ROM then flash it with the factory image's BAT file. There's probably a much simpler way to do it but that's my personal workflow.
