Apple lets users uninstall the Apple Wallet app in the latest beta of iOS 16.1

Apple dropped the iOS 16 earlier this month, and a week after the iOS 16.1 beta 1, it is releasing the iOS 16.1 beta 2. There are several changes in the latest OS alongside fixed issues.

The iOS 16.1 beta called the Build 20B5050f comes with the removal of the Apple Wallet, as predicted earlier. It also has features like Clean Energy Charging, Live Activities, Matter Support, and more. Here’s an overview of the changes:

• Apple Wallet app can be removed: users can now uninstall Apple’s Wallet app, however, reports suggest this could prevent accessibility to Apple Pay, Apple Card, and other capabilities.
• Live Activities: this feature keeps users informed by giving real-time updates on events such as sports games and helps track delivery orders. The Live Activities API is accessible for developers with the latest iOS 16.1 beta.
• Matter Support: helps connect compatible accessories across different platforms that can be controlled via Siri and the Home App on users’ Apple devices. In the software release notes, Apple resolved three issues with the application.
• Clean Energy Charging: iOS 16.1 beta 2 lets users charge their Apple devices while reducing their carbon footprints by charging through energy sources with lower carbon emissions. It also adjusts to users’ routines so they can get a fully charged phone when they need their devices.
• Displaying Battery percentage on more iPhones: more Apple gadgets: iPhone XR, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12 mini, and iPhone 11, will also show the battery percentage on the top of their screens under iOS 16.1. Previously, these devices could not do so.
• iCloud Shared Photo Library: the capability lets people share photos with up to five users through a separate iCloud Library. These individuals can add to the collection from their libraries or contribute specific pictures.
