The feature is part of Windows 11 build 22622.290

Suggested actions getting closer to the public debut

Suggested actions, a new feature that was originally released by Microsoft to users in the Dev channel, landed in the Beta channel as part of the latest preview build.

With suggested actions, users can perform certain actions much faster, simply by selecting the text they have on the screen.

For example, when selecting a phone number, the suggested actions integration will display a popup that will allow users to call the number using applications like Microsoft Teams or any other piece of software that is installed on the device with similar capabilities.

The same for dates and time, as selecting such information allows users to create an event in the calendar app available on the computer.

“On copying a phone number, Windows will pop up an inline light dismissible UI that suggests ways to call the phone number using Teams or other installed apps that offer click-to-dial call functions. On copying a future date and/or time, Windows will pop up an inline light dismissible UI that suggests creating the event using supported calendar apps. Upon user selection of preference, the app is launched with its corresponding calendar event creation page with auto filled date and/or time,” Microsoft explains.

Only available in certain regions

Worth knowing, however, is that the feature isn’t available for all Windows insiders in the Beta channel, as Microsoft is only releasing it in three regions.

“Windows Insiders can try out a new feature in this build for making everyday tasks quicker in Windows 11 through inline suggested actions. When you copy a date, time, or phone number, Windows will suggest actions relevant to you such as creating calendar events or making phone calls with your favorite apps. This feature is currently only available to Windows Insiders in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico,” the company says.

At this point, there’s no ETA as to when it could ship to users in other regions.
