The company acknowledges the shortage in Europe

Like the rest of the planet, Microsoft is also struggling with the shortage of various materials and components, and as a result, the company sometimes has a hard time producing the necessary inventory of devices.

The most recent product affected by the global supply problems is the Xbox controller, as Microsoft has confirmed that finding a new unit in Europe is much harder these days.

In a statement for VGC, Microsoft blames the supply disruptions for the whole thing, though it says it’s working around the clock with partners to bring more controllers in stock at retailers across Europe.

Interestingly, getting your hands on an Xbox controller in the U.S. is much easier, as most stores appear to have enough units in stock already.

“We know it may be hard finding Xbox Wireless Controllers right now due to supply disruptions. We’re working as fast as possible with our manufacturing and retail partners to improve this. Please check with your local retailer for availability,” Microsoft confirmed.

No ETA for the recovery of the inventory

Most likely, the supply disruptions that Microsoft is referring to are related to the geopolitical tensions in Europe and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. However, Microsoft obviously isn’t the only company that’s struggling with the same supply disruptions, so the best option is to just keep in touch with a local retailer to get a better estimate as to when the Xbox controller could be back in stock.

Needless to say, Xbox consoles are also pretty difficult to find as well, though the current inventory has improved significantly as compared to the previous year.

The same for the PlayStation 5, as Sony has been having a hard time to meet the global demand for the console, especially after the debut of the pandemic when the chip shortage turned into a major headache for pretty much all companies out there.
