- Employers are trying to sweeten the deal to lure and retain talent. According to data from job platform ZipRecruiter, listings offering summer Fridays are up 56% from last year. Now, for those of us who've never had one, this means you get to finish work after lunch on Friday and have a nice early three-day weekend. Now, it's actually believed to have started in the 1960s to sort of perk people up in those lazy summer months. But maybe-- maybe this could help usher in the four-day workweek, Seana.
SEANA SMITH: Maybe. I like the optimistic thinking. I would be a big fan of the fact if we only had a four day workweek. Like you mentioned, we have never had the opportunity to take advantage of summer Fridays because we're in the news business. So we clearly picked the wrong--
- But Yahoo does, right?
SEANA SMITH: Yahoo does. I guess, yeah, we just can't participate. All right. I want to put up a poll because we asked you guys-- our viewers, our followers-- whether or not your company allows you to take a summer Friday. And when you take a look at the results, it might be a little misleading because 82% of you said no. 17% said yes. I think you guys are being totally honest. But my feeling on this poll, Dave, was that, hey, it's only people that are in the office right now working on Twitter that are participating. So we might have to do this on a Monday.
- I think that was a nice evaluation. I think the likelihood-- if you're on a summer Friday, you are not on Twitter. So yes, those numbers probably are skewed. They do say that employees are 2 and 1/2 times more likely to say they are happy at work if they like the working schedule and flexibility. So, clearly, this works for both companies large and small. And we are on board.
SEANA SMITH: We are on board.
- If only--
SEANA SMITH: We just need the four-day workweek.
- Simply Wall St.

Oil rises on market caution over tight supply
SINGAPORE (Reuters) -Oil prices rose 1% on Tuesday, clawing back more of last week's losses as investors focused on tight supplies of crude and fuel products rather than concerns about a recession dampening demand going forward. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures for July, which expires later on Tuesday, rose to $112.01 a barrel, up $2.45, or 2.2%, from Friday's close. "After getting hammered into the U.S. long weekend due to recession and fuel demand destruction concerns, oil prices are rallying again," said Stephen Innes, managing partner at SPI Asset Management.

Top three Aussie miners to shed $11 billion in market value as commodity rout accelerates
Australia's big three miners were on track to lose more than A$16 billion ($11.12 billion) in combined market value on Monday at current levels, as a commodities selloff over easing China demand and fears of a global recession deepened. Rio Tinto's Australia-listed shares were set to shed nearly A$2 billion in value, BHP more than A$10 billion, and Fortescue Metals over A$4 billion. Lower output from Chinese steel mills has hit demand for iron ore, while prices of commodities like copper and aluminium have slumped on worries that aggressive interest rate hikes by the U.S. Federal Reserve's and other central banks could tip the global economy into a recession.
