How many were stolen? I would let someone register one so they can get a friendly officer knocking on their door.

So it's essentially impossible to buy a GPU from a legit source, and you therefore have to buy them off Ebay or some other marketplace if you don't want to wait 8-12 months. And now if you buy an EVGA card there's a chance it's stolen and you'll receive no support. I hate thieves immensely, but I feel sorry for anyone that buys one of these all excited only to find this out after the fact.

Glad I've still got my old laptop xD

That’s a good question, but I imagine they only send notifications for cards they’ve received and have standing by for purchase.

Probably It will not affect queue. I didn't pay attention that it happened Oct 29 since Jacob made post just 4 hours ago.

He said this was a shipment of stock to EVGA's distribution center.  They wouldn't sell cards through the queue that weren't already present at their distribution center.

Does EVGA have all the serial numbers? If so, perhaps PUBLISH THEM, so we'll know straight away who is trying to sell them and hopefully catch the criminals. Although I guess any cards under $950 don't count as stolen in California, just a misdemeanor.

Or implement checking for these numbers into next driver update. Maybe popup who to contact if your card is the one that was stollen.

What I think is worse is those who buy these cards thinking they're getting a deal and then register it
probably don't know it is stolen .....but they'll get nailed with having stolen product...

Re: Notice of Stolen EVGA GeForce RTX 30-Series Graphics Cards 12 hours ago (permalink)
EBay should be advised of this. If these cards appear on EBay, I wish EBay could be held responsible for selling stolen goods. Since it would most likely be interstate sales, then those would be Federal criminal charges rather than California's $950 misdemeanor limit.

If EVGA can't publish serial numbers, maybe publish model numbers, if there are only a few models involved?

If a user finds that they purchased a stolen product, they should contact police and file a report so they can recover their loss from the seller.

It is not EVGA’s fault and EVGA should not be forced to warranty stolen products, so buyers should take the appropriate steps if they purchase a stolen product. I

If a pawn shop purchases stolen products, they are required to contact the police, end users are exactly the same.

One thing's for sure: DO NOT BUY GPUs ON EBAY or similar marketplaces - you may end up with a GPU with no warranty, and the police at your door to retrieve the stolen property.
