Do you fancy earning yourself a little extra for doing nothing more than using Microsoft products? If you use Microsoft Search in your work or school life, you'll soon be able to earn rewards just for using it.

Microsoft's Planned Rewards for Using Its Search

The Redmond tech giant discussed its plans on the Microsoft 365 Roadmap. The Roadmap is where Microsoft posts planned updates for its productivity services, and it's a handy way to see what's on the horizon.

Entry number 70634 on the Roadmap is particularly interesting. It's called "Microsoft Search: Earn Microsoft Rewards when using a work or school account," and the description reads as such:

Users in your organization will have the ability to earn Microsoft Rewards points when signed into select Microsoft 365 services (Microsoft Search in Bing) with their organizational (work or school) account.

It's worth noting here that "Microsoft Search" does not exclusively mean the company's online search engine, Bing. In this case, the name refers to a tool that lets you find relevant files in an organization network alongside an additional Bing search.

As such, the company wants you to earn Microsoft Rewards from using Windows Search. You can then redeem these points for sweepstakes entries, charity donations, or gift cards.

When Microsoft wants its users to use a specific tool or service more often, it'll sometimes tie a big Rewards bounty onto it as an encouragement. Recently, users noted a boost in points when using Microsoft Edge to search with Bing as part of the tech giant's bid to get more people to use both services.

Unfortunately, you can't earn Microsoft Rewards for using the search tool just yet. However, Microsoft is working hard to get the service up and running ASAP. At the time of writing, this new feature has a planned release date of May 2021.

Earning a Little Extra With Every Search

If you love earning Microsoft Rewards, you'll soon be given some just for searching for files in your organization. It won't roll out until at least May 2021, but it'll be a great way to earn some more points for just doing your work.

Of course, Microsoft Rewards doesn't need to be just about you if you don't want it to. You can use your points for charitable causes instead, such as when Microsoft allowed gamers to donate points to the World Health Organization's COVID-19 fund.
