U.S. Blacklists Chinese Drone Company DJI
December 18, 2020 10:50 pmBeijing (PingWest)- China’s SZ DJI Technology Co, the world’s biggest drone maker, is the new Chinese company that was added to U.S government’s economic blacklist.
The Trump administration has added China’s biggest chipmaker Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation to a trade blacklist at the earlier this month.
The adding of DJI bring the total number of blacklisted firms to 36.
Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross on Friday criticized DJ involving “facilitated the export of items by China that aid repressive regimes around the world, contrary to U.S. foreign policy interests.”
Prior the announcement, the U.S government had previously accused DJI and other Chinese makers of drones of endangering U.S national security.
The U.S interior department said it was checking on fleet of about 800 Chinese-made drones and had halted Interior department purchases of such drones.
In May last year, the U.S Department of Homeland Security warned U.S. firms of doing business with Chinese drone’s makers because of the risks related to the company data.
