2008年11月26日，印度孟买泰姬·玛哈尔酒店等多个地点同时遭到“虔诚军”（LeT）恐怖组织袭击。此次袭击一直持续了三天，恐怖分子绑架大量人质与印度军警对峙，最终造成500余人死伤。一共有10名恐怖分子参与了这起袭击事件，其中9名被击毙，还有一名叫做Jamal Kasab的恐怖分子被活捉。
在审讯Kesab时，发生了令人意想不到的一幕。Kesab哀求印度警察关掉摄像机，请求被拒绝后，Kesab痛哭流涕地说，加入“虔诚军”并非为了“圣战”，而只是为了钱。Kesab说，父亲告诉他，只要加入“虔诚军”，他和弟弟就能有足够的钱付彩礼，否则他俩都没法结婚。2012年，Kesab在印度被绞刑处死，而他在巴基斯坦的弟弟是否从“虔诚军”拿到钱结了婚，也不得而知。
