Binance recently announced it would soon be delisting four tokens from its site: Aragon (ANT), Multichain (MULTI), Vai (VAI), and Monero (XMR) on February 20.

Binance Delists ANT, MULTI, VAI, and XMR Effective February 20

According to the official statement issued on February 6 by Binance, “When a coin or token no longer meets this standard or the industry changes, we do a more in-depth review and may delist it,” the exchange said. This is the best way to keep our people safe.

Binance users will not be able to trade ANT/BTC, ANT/USDT, MULTI/USDT, USDT/VAI, XMR/BNB, XMR/BTC, XMR/ETH, or XMR/USDT after the given date. All existing trading pairs will be deleted automatically after trade ceases on February 20.

At the time of reporting, neither VAI nor ANT responded much to the news that they would be delisted. However, MULTI and XMR went down significantly after the news. Due to mounting regulatory pressure, it has become much more complicated for privacy coins, like Monero, to stay on centralized exchanges.

According to CoinmarketCap, the value of MULTI has dropped hugely by 27% in the last 24 hours, falling to $1.54. At the same time, its market value dropped by the same amount, ending the day at $22 million.

After the value dropped, MULTI’s trading volumes increased by almost 190%, which suggests that there was busy trading going on, which could have included token transfers or closing out positions.

In December, OKX announced that Monero (XMR) and ZCash (ZEC) would no longer be trading pairs because they did not meet the platform’s standard requirements. The exchange stopped taking payments in FSN, ZKS, CAPO, CVP, XMR, DASH, ZEC, and ZEN tokens on December 27, 2023. Users can withdraw their respective crypto funds until March 5, 2024, to take them off the site.
