More than just fingerprint issues, I’d love to know how everyone is finding the wear for scratches, scuffs and rubbing now nearly a year later. Love the initial look of midnight but worry about how bad it could look longer term.

Silver seems like such a safer bet, although my silver macbook actually managed to get darker greyish scratches.

I have the MBA 13 in Midnight and have not had any issues. But it is a fingerprint magnet

I’m really excited for my Midnight Air. I’ve never had a laptop that wasn’t silver or white. Hopefully it won’t show scratches and stuff badly but I’m not concerned about fingerprints.

Midnight is the only color to get. As an owner of a Midnight M2 13.6" MBA I can easily say it is one of the best colors Apple has yet put on a laptop. I would still like to see the purple finish on the iPad or iPhone make its way but until then it is the best. Because the MagSafe connector is metal you will eventually see some very light marks near that port and possibly on the usb c ports though I haven't observed that yet in a little over 6 months.

If you are worried about scratching just be mindful with it and you should be fine. If you do care about fingerprints then I would suggest you go into a store and look at a demo unit. Only you can determine your tolerance. It does show fingerprints a lot but personally the color is so nice I can deal with it.

Really debating whether I should get the 15". I have been wanting a 15" air for a long time. I just wish it would have had a different chip like M3 but the price is really good. Apple nailed the price.

Excited for anyone who pre-orders. You will have to share some photos and your thoughts and impressions!!

Ordered a Midnight 16GB Ram 256 SSD. Love the color and don't need the storage, just the ram.

Which clear skin did you use?

It's great to hear the results with midnight over longer term usage that's not on a display model. Ports scratching is fine as that is regularly a metal on metal so makes sense given the high usage of that area.

I've been to a few shops to judge the midnight finish but it is very difficult as there is no telling how many people have handled anything and this should generally be an extreme example of what an individual's usage is. However, given the display model status you'd hope it means it's a pretty good result as any ones I have seen do seem like you could absolutely live with them.

I've attached the worst I found in case anyone else wants a look to give themselves some confidence.

Worth noting that scratch in the third photo is easy to see from the angle the was taken at, but was very hard to see viewing at a straight on perspective.

I have a late years 2022 13" MBA in midnight and have experienced no issues at all. Even fingerprints are minimal and not a concern. I just ordered the 15" MBA tonight. No question, the best color in the lineup in my opinion.

I totally agree with this. I am so OCD about fingerprints but bought the 2022 MacBook Air in Midnight because it's clearly the most beautiful Apple product ever made. And yes fingerprints are minimal and don't bother me at all. I just wipe them off every other day. It's a non issue for me.

So this may sound goofy, but I went with the silver on the 15" Air because I had the midnight on the 13" M2 Air but found that I was constantly having to turn on a light when plugging in my USB-C power adapter to charge. The small ports are near invisible agains the dark blue metal. With the silver, the ports are much easier to see. I realize that part of this is due to being over 50 with diminished eyesight but it was annoying. Also... silver always looks good on Mac laptops. True classic. And as others have mentioned, the silver hides finger prints that were pretty noticeable on the midnight. Though that honestly didn't bug me too much as I always have a microfiber cloth in my bag.

So happy with it. My dad has a gold 2019 MBA and I was somewhat envious of the color. I still think the gold looks grear but the starlight is just a really nice understated tone that isn't gawdy but feels enticing.

Apple did a good job with the casings IMHO

I went with Starlight. The fingerprints on the Midnight would drive me mad. Otherwise that would have been my next color choice.
