Why People Like Pain or Sickness

Pain is not a pleasant condition, and in most cases, we are more likely to avoid it. However, there are many moments when even though we realize this is not a happy place, we have a deep instinct that this will finally be for the best. Many people admit that they want to experience pain or become sick occasionally for various reasons. These reasons we are about to discuss in today’s article.

  1. We give ourselves a break from trying
To start with, when we get sick or feel in terrible pain, we are told in a way that we should slow down the hard effort and give ourselves a moment to rest. During the day, we take on many responsibilities, and if we are ambitious and energetic, we usually try to complete all our tasks simultaneously. However, a disease will slow us down regardless of whether we like it. This is a break that we must take. If it was on us, we would never stop to rest. So, getting sick is a perfect excuse to make you go to bed and rest for a while. If you think about it, the reason we do not give ourselves these small breaks that are so necessary is due to guilt. The idea of not trying makes us feel we are lazy and lack motivation. However, the reality is that rest is valuable if we want to make it long-term, and we would better not overestimate our strength and stamina.
  2. We have people’s attention and comfort
Apart from us being nice to ourselves, pain and sickness will also catch other people’s attention. This time it will not be about making them admire us but in other ways. This time friends and relatives will show their tender side and offer a hand to help us. Seeing that people care for you not only when you come out as a provider but also in sickness is a sign they care about you. Someone that will come to give you a blanket or bring a hot plate of soup will certainly make your heart feel warmer. As the marriage vows say ”…in sickness and in health.” The phrase is to show that you do not care for the other person only when they are at their best moments, but you also love them at their downs.
  3. The idea that we can survive
Apart from all that, remember that pain is a challenging situation. People who love challenges are also expected to love this one. While we get sick or feel any sort of pain, our bodies have to struggle to help us preserve our original condition and protect our overall health. Once the body manages to overcome the challenge, this gives us a feeling that we can make it in all kinds of situations and that somehow we managed to get stronger out of this. This is why we eat chilli peppers or sometimes do not feel so bad when we are in pain.
  4. It is necessary to heal ourselves
We saved the most important for the end. Each time the body experiences a difficult condition, it is allowed to heal the area that suffers. Pain will help us understand where the problems are located, and we can get valuable information from that. It is a form of communication that we develop between our bodies, should, and minds. We understand ourselves deeper and realize what we have to take care of. The pain is a reflection of other disorders and appears only to make us see what we must fix. It is a wonderful opportunity to see how we can heal ourselves and be confident and wise. After the disease is gone, we do not only feel stronger, as we mentioned before. A sense of cleanliness also comes alone. It is as if we have rejuvenated and thrown away everything that works as a burden and kept everything that is useful for us. A chance to put things in the right place and continue with a more positive psychology.
