All this info comes from a CNBC reporter, who claims to have viewed the internal messages. And according to what the report states, staffers are describing the Bard announcement as “botched,” “rushed,” and “un-Googley.”

All the accusations from the staffers came after Google tried to fast-forward Bard’s announcement. Google wanted to launch the ChatGPT competitor the same week Microsoft showed what Bing is capable of after integrating ChatGPT technology.

One of the memes shared by the staffers included a picture of Pichai. It reads: “Dear Sundar, the (Google) Bard launch and the layoffs were rushed, botched, and myopic. Please return to taking a long-term outlook.”

Another one referenced the lowest category in the performance system of Google. It reads: “Sundar, and leadership, deserve a Perf NI. They are being comically short-sighted and un-Googlely in their pursuit of ‘sharpening focus.”

Now, what does “Googley” mean? CNBC notes that it refers to being hardworking and ambitious about projects, which Google was not about the Bard.

Wondering what actually went wrong with the launch of Google Bard. Well, at a public demo, Bard could not give correct information. It was about the new discoveries the James Webb Space has made.

Google had to pay the price for a ‘botched’ Bard launch. After the announcement, the shares of Alphabet, the parent company of Google, dropped more than 9%. Investors were likely concerned about the ‘threat’ ChatGPT is bringing to Google’s core search business.
