- All right, OK, we have to check the markets here, so let's go to the YFi Interactive and see how we closed out the week. Dow up half a percent today, but I'm going to check on the five-day performance here.
We do have the Dow up about 86 basis points, so not even 1% for the week. We also have the S&P 500 up half a percent. Now, for the week, that is underwater, third week in a row that it is underwater.
And then the NASDAQ, up about 2/10 of a percent for the day but down 2% for the week. And just a reminder, the Santa Claus rally starts today. It carries on next week Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and then the first two days of the new year. That's usually how it goes down.
So in the meantime, let's just do a recap of the sector action for today. We have energy up 3%, followed by utilities, communication services, real estate. You can see everything in the green there. Health care up about 6/10 of a percent but just about equal.
- All right, what's your stock story of the week, my friend?
- Stock story of the week, Tesla.
- Oh, I was going to take Tesla.
- You're always going to take Tesla.
- OK, go, go.
- It's always going to be Tesla and Apple in a week like this because Tesla has just been this unrelenting bear case right now. Everybody's been buying or trying to buy that falling knife, and there's a lot of-- there are a lot of reasons why, valuation wise, people should be stepping in here.
But if Elon is still selling, he's-- and hopefully he's done-- we're going to have to see if that plays out, Dave.
- Yeah, down 18% on the week, down 30% on the month. Worst month ever for Tesla. Somebody can't wait for 2023--
- I almost can't either.
- --and it is Elon Musk. Yeah, I'll give you that. Merry Christmas, my friend.

Microsoft tells judges its $69 billion Activision deal would benefit gamers
(Reuters) -Microsoft Corp said on Thursday its $69 billion bid to buy "Call of Duty" maker Activision Blizzard would benefit gamers and gaming companies alike. Microsoft made the argument in a filing aimed at convincing a judge at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission to allow the deal to proceed, after FTC commissioners said the merger would hamper competition in the gaming industry in a complaint this month aimed at blocking the deal. In a complaint on Dec. 8, the FTC said its concern was that Activision's popular games, including "World of Warcraft" and "Diablo," potentially would stop being offered on devices that rival Microsoft's Xbox.

Investors look for 'Santa Rally' after grim year in U.S. stocks
Bruised investors are hoping a so-called Santa Claus rally can soften the pain of a tough year in U.S. stocks and potentially brighten the outlook for 2023. In December – typically a strong month for equities - the S&P 500 has so far lost around 6%, weighed down by hefty declines in shares of Tesla Inc, Amazon.com Inc and other names that had led markets higher in previous years. U.S. stocks have risen during the last five trading days of December and the first two days of January about 75% of the time, CFRA Research data showed, a pattern attributed to low liquidity, tax-loss harvesting and investing of year-end bonuses.

Which Billionaire Owns The Most Land In The U.S.? Hint, It's Not Bill Gates
Earlier this year, in May, claims were made that Microsoft Corp co-founder Bill Gates owned the majority of America’s farmland. While that is false, with the billionaire amassing nearly 270,000 acres of farmland across the country, compared to 900 million total farm acres, a different billionaire privately owns 2.2 million acres, making him the largest landowner in the U.S. John Malone, the former CEO of Tele-Communications Inc., which AT&T Inc. purchased for more than $50 billion in 1999, has a

Morgan Stanley says the stock market could bottom out next year — but these 2 stocks are already in the ‘buy’ zone
Michael Wilson, Morgan Stanley chief equity strategist, has been among the most prominent of the bearish prognosticators this past year, and while he still sees rough times ahead, he also offers some hope for the long term. At base, Wilson says the S&P 500 is likely to sink another 20% before hitting a bottom near 3,100 during 1Q23. The index slipped into a bear market in June of this year, when the Federal Reserve began its aggressive anti-inflationary interest rate hikes, and has been on a vol

1 Ultra-High-Yield Dividend Stock to Avoid Like the Plague and 2 to Buy Instead
Big dividend yields can be alluring. Unfortunately, many higher-yielding dividends are at high risk of getting cut if market conditions deteriorate. Because of that, yield-focused investors should avoid that stock and instead consider buying Energy Transfer (NYSE: ET) or Verizon (NYSE: VZ).
