Interview Experience
Round 1: This round is the easiest, an intermediate knowledge of your previously learned subjects would help you to clear this round, and you should be good in at least one programming language. It was conducted on 16th October 2022(Sunday), when most of my friends were placed(ha-ha).
The round consists of:
- Objective Round
- Computer Science
- English Comprehension
- Logical Ability
- Subjective Round
- Automata Coding (Simply, a coding round)
Analysis: Total number of Questions: 46 (MCQ + Coding). Total Time allotted: 50mins+45mins (MCQ + coding) = 95 mins
- The MCQ questions were easy to medium level, and every question is mandatory with no negative marking.
- The coding round was way easier than I thought, the problem statements vary from person-to-person.
Fortunately, the questions were very very simple. I completed both questions with 35 mins left, that’s how simple they were. Got the results of round 1, on 21st October 2022, that’s after 5 days.
Round 2 (Advance Coding): We got a mail stating (on 11th Nov 2022) that I have a coding round of level 2. But the surprising part was everyone was shortlisted for this round, as to my knowledge they used to select only 10% of top performers of 1st round for this round.
In this advanced coding round, I was able to solve only 2 programming questions, so I may/may not be shortlisted for the higher-level package (let’s hope????????).
On 21 November, we got the result of the advanced coding round. They’ve just shortlisted 8 students for just the interview, whereas for the 2022 batch they hired around 60+ students. The fear of recession is very high in the IT industry at this moment. Maybe 2023 would be the most unfortunate batch of this decade, then COVID-19, and now the recession, off… thankfully, I was one among those eight students. And we have the interviews scheduled on 23 November, in-campus.
Round 3(Technical rounds 1&2): We were asked to download an app from the Play Store, i.e., SHL smart meet app. We received a mail, and we just need to install it on our devices. The 1st round was conducted for around 30-40 mins, it’ll be completely based on how you try to progress it.
- Started with the introduction, and proceeded with OPPS concepts, and some DBMS.
- Then, he gave me an expression, I just needed to explain to him whether the expression is valid or not, and that was pretty simple.
- He then gave me a problem statement to code, it was to find the product of an array except for self, I did the naïve approach(O(n^2)), and I was stuck a bit to making it efficient (O(n)), just explained him the approach.
- I was sluggish after lunch and carried my 2nd technical round of interviews with the sleepyhead. It wasn’t good, I’m even unable to recall what they had asked me. I don’t think I left them with a good impression, though I was selected for HR.
Round 4 (HR): They called me just after completing my second round of technical interviews.
- Started with an introduction, proceeded with family background, and some casual talk with HR questions.
- Here, your confidence plays an important role, so just be open.
- The HR was very friendly, just before leaving I wished her a safe journey because they traveled from Verna to Belgaum just to meet us in person.
- I gotta know that I was selected for the Persistent on 28 November.
