Google claims that Apple Messages are stuck in the 1990s

Google is once again attacking Apple and its messaging platform, which the Mountain View company now claims is stuck in the 1990s. You guessed it, it specifically mentions Apple’s resistance to using RCS in a new blog post. We are not yet prepared to witness an agreement between these two giants.

The very first SMS was sent about thirty years ago. Google has posted a blog post in celebration of this technology on its website, using the occasion to announce the upcoming end-to-end encryption. But more importantly, to highlight the benefits of its successor, the RCS. Undoubtedly, this technology is far better, and Apple has yet another motive to respond.

It has been a common obstacle between the two businesses. Google has always made fun of Apple for its consistent refusal to send its messages through the RCS, especially given the company is afraid of a potential Android iMessage competitor. There can be no question in Google’s mind: Apple’s application was still in the 1990s.

Google attacks Apple Messages for not adopting RCS

“RCS can work universally. So no matter where you live, who makes your phone or what it runs on. You can enjoy the same texting experience. And today, all of the major mobile carriers and manufacturers have adopted RCS as the standard — except for Apple. Apple refuses to adopt RCS and continues to rely on SMS when people with iPhones message people with Android phones. Which means their texting is still in the 1990s“.

Of course, it makes perfect sense for Google to make such a statement and position itself systematically ahead of its main rival, especially since a number of minor updates are about to greatly enhance the experience on Google Messages. The majority of the mobile industry uses RCS, with the exception of one company that is taking its time. It’s really time to switch to RCS after 30 years of SMS.
