[ROM]TWIZtd Vengeance N8 V2.5---(10-05-2019)

Ya, I got it. No customization though. Damn

The customization is still there. The only way you would lose the customization is if you used the stock Android 7.1.1 SystemUI.apk or the one from SamFail v2.5. If the SystemUI.apk is from any version of the Chimera or VG ROMs, then it will still have the customization. The only reason Chimera v2.0 and below's SystemUI.apk is better is probably because Blue Fox worked on the ROM while the newer Chimera were all done solo by the same person who does VG.

I'd ultimately like to downgrade to 2.0 Vengance if at all possible. Could you help me make that happen ? I see in your previous reply you couldn't find it. If not, no worries; I'm content with staying on the stock system UI if it gets rid of the crashes.

I do like to get rid of the clock as I wear an analog watch and like to keep the formats the same across my devices for specific reasons, somewhat .. System UI Tuner in the Play Store doesn't get rid of it. Things like that. Otherwise this is all good.

The modded UI is what's up, though. Seriously ..
See my post #1632 above for the answer to why 2.0 Vengance is not possible unless you happen to find it somewhere else because that's the version I am missing. It's Chimera v2.0's SystemUI you can use with less crashes since Chimera came out on or before July 2018 which was a BlueFox721 + JavixKGD joint venture. Chimera v2.5 which came out on or before September 2018 was after BlueFox721 disappeared and had the bugs. Twiztd Vegance v1.0 came out in April 2019 so it already was more buggy as it came out after Chimera v2.0. System UI Tuner doesn't really do much in reality from what I remembered because everything is based on the modded SystemUI.apk. The only difference between the TG v2.5/Ultimate Chimera v1.5 which I believe can be swapped with each other but not a SystemUI.apk from a older released VG or Chimera is only TG v2.5/Ultimate Chimera v1.5 allows you to change the AOD settings without having to replace the AOD file with a stock one, reboot, change the settings for AOD, then replace the AOD with the modded version and reboot.

My thoughts exactly. Ok! Thanks a bunch. This mod pack Stock UI I think it is from V5 Mods seems to work so far. Just keeping Vengance since Viper4Android installs right away and I use it to preview and review my music tracks for production.

I'd donate to you both but I'm on the lower side of the spectrum currently. Hopefully there still being quite useful life in old things out there is satifying enough.

Much appreciated! 🖖

What specific version of Vengance are you using since I thought Viper4Android already comes with all versions of Twitd Vengance N8 or are you talking about the older Vengance as I believe those went to v4.0 before Twitd Vengance N8 v1.0 came out as Twiztd Vengance N8 v2.5/Ultimate Chimera v1.5 will not work with any other version of SystemUI.apk as it will force close non-stop when the phone is rebooted so it is interesting you even got a stock SystemUI to work.

Donations are not needed for me since I like to help people for free.
I am trying to avoid signing up for an account so something else other than Mega would probably work better. SystemUI will still crash even if the SystemUI was replaced with one from an earlier ROM version, just less frequently. The only reliable SystemUI is probably to use the Android stock SystemUI which is from SamFail v2.5 but you will also lose all the visual UI tweaks as it's the modded SystemUI.apk which is in both the Chimera and VG ROMs that is buggy.
Ya, I dirty flashed both the Vengance fix Javix posted earlier and put non-Vengance TWIZtd on it then flashed Vengance, no avail, also.

No crash at all whatsoever on stock system UI so far now. It would have by now, I'm sure.

Just got the N8 from a shop about a month ago and been a bit to get accustomed to it's ways of being flashed. Good so far. I've done A/B partitions too so this is somewhat of a break.

No sweat 👌

Interesting, were you able to use the stock SystemUI.apk with Twiztd Vengance N8 v2.5 though?

Here are the SystemUI.apk's which you can flash using SafeStarp as it will install with the correct ownership and permissions, I have attached them as well as uploaded them elsewhere for redundancy.

Chimera v2.0 System UI:

Stock System UI from SamFail v2.5 - Android v7.1.1 unmodded which is less than 50% the size of the modded version:

UPLOAD.EE - SamFail_v2.5_SystemUI.zip - Download

Post back about your experience with Chimera v2.0's System UI which should only be used with ROMs other than Twiztd Vegenance N8 v2.5/Ultimate Chimera v1.5.

I just straight dirty flashed it. System UI crash prompt on boot, booted fine. Seems faster for some reason. So I rebooted and wiped the Dalvik and Cache. No system crash so far. I'll be able to tell within an hour or so. Reiterated apps fine also on caches wipe.

I'll try to report back in an hour or so. If not, then Friday-ish

Looking good so far! Best.

Not sure if this already been implemented in later devices or if it'll help or not or what but I appreciate it!

Been modding devices since the Galaxy S4. No coding, but ya. I try to dinate when I can too. Time spent. Right? Gotta eat.

Going to report back either Friday, weekend or next week. Sooner if any UI crashes.

I get funds Friday. Can you message me your donate link? And how to get to Javix's too. I believe it's on the first post if not mistaken.

👍👍

What version of the ROM are you currently using? System UI force close keeps repeating 10 times per second in Vegenance v2.5 but not earlier versions and I did wipe dalvik and cache so that's not it. ROM's really can't be dirty flashed because /system will get wiped clean when you flash the zip.

Oh! I believe it's just Vengance 2.5, the newest one. I literally just factory reset from the Extreme Syndicate method here;

Then I just did the steps I listed a few posts ago. It's on the Chimera 2.0 UI apparently but it runs like Vengance UI. All my settings still there, everything.

That's why I wanted to donate to you guys cuz it was such a breeze. I just pieced it all together and here it is. Still good at like 6am here, Easten Standard Time U.S. (pulling a all nighter. Ubering to brunch at 9am ugh lol). No crashes 👍

Galaxy Note 8 TMobile updated from Sprint version (since they merged a year or two ago). And from Android 11 I think it was. I mean if you want any logs or anything to further studies at all I'm all for it. Got some time to kill right now
One thing is though is that Chimera tool won't get rid of the battery bar in the system icons top bar or the battery bar animation in the nav bar. I'll get to it later. I'm just really impressed with this work you guys did ..

Interesting since I couldn't get Vengance v2.5 (both the original November 2019 version and the April 2020 version) to work with a older version of the SystemUI. No one else was able to try it since even the other person who had the problems, his Note 8 Unlocked model completely was boot looping after he went to Extreme Syndicate which was Oreo I believe and then tried to downgrade and basically turned his phone into a brick. I am also using a Note 8 Unlocked model. Logs won't do me any good because the developer abandoned the project and I'm just a user like you are even though I am more of a power user so I push the ROMs more but none of the problems had gotten fixed and I already tried the log method but no go. So basically I was also playing around with different pieces because as you probably know by now, the developers never really fixed the SystemUI crashing issue and that method worked. So donations are not needed since I'm just a user like you are. I'm actually hoping the S22 Ultra is rootable because I really need a new phone as I am out of storage and a majority of the apps no longer support Android 7.1.1 and requires 8.0 as a minimum.

You are supposed to use the Twiztd tool and it does work because I actually was trying out to see what each option did. I didn't do any work other than trying to have a working ROM on my own phone as I am not the developer of the ROM.
