Rocky Linux 8 and 9 added to NetApp E-Series interoperability matrix

Rocky Linux 8 and 9 have been added to the NetApp E-Series interoperability matrix starting with SANtricity 11.70.

Rocky Linux is an open-source enterprise operating system designed to be 100% bug-for-bug compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux®. It is under intensive development by the community.

Linux is probably the most popular client to E-Series and popular verticals include:

  • Big Data and Analytics
  • High Performance Computing
  • Surveillance / CCTV
  • High performance databases (SQL, NoSQL, etc.)

CentOS 7 and other users looking to upgrade or migrate are welcome to switch to Rocky Linux and use it with their E-Series storage systems.

Recently I’ve been using Rocky Linux 9 with E-Series EF-570 (two recent posts on MinIO with EF-570 and E-Series Performance Analyzer were done on Rocky) and “whether it works” was never in doubt, but having the OS in the NetApp E-Series IMT makes this official.

While Rocky Linux and updates are free, enterprise users who need professional OS support can purchase commercial support for Rocky Linux. It is affordably priced and available from CIQ.
