Microsoft on October 13 announced that a localized version of its collaboration app Microsoft Teams will be officially launched in China, during the first half of 2023.

The localized version of Teams can better boost communication efficiency for Chinese companies that go global and multinationals that aim to better serve the Chinese market, Roan Kang, general manager of marketing and operations at Microsoft Greater China, said.

According to Kang, the monthly active users in China have grown more than tenfold compared with the number before the COVID-19 pandemic, which demonstrate the surging local demand.

Founded in 1999, 21Vianet is the largest carrier-neutral Internet and data center service provider in China. The company, which also serves Chinese tech giants including Alibaba and Tencent, counts state-owned TUS Holdings as the biggest shareholder.

21Vianet has been acted as an operation entity for Microsoft's cloud computing service Azure since 2013. Since then, the two sides have been expanding their partnership as Microsoft seeks to seize opportunities in China's growing cloud computing market.

Following Azure, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Dynamics 365, and Microsoft Power Platform operated by 21Vianet has launched in China in 2014, 2019, and 2020 respectively.
