尽管飞机的自动巡航功能比较先进，但这也不意味着飞行员可以长时间打瞌睡。
然而，这样匪夷所思的事情日前就发生了。
8月15日，埃塞俄比亚航空公司的ET343航班从喀土穆飞往亚的斯亚贝巴。就在飞机接近目的地亚的斯亚贝巴博莱机场（Addis Ababa Bole Airport）前， 这架波音737-800的机长和副机长居然同时睡着了。
飞机当时正在万米高空，空中交通管制人员多次试图联系机组人员但都不成功，最终在自动驾驶仪断开后，警报声将两名飞行员惊醒。
