Umbrel is a beautiful personal server OS that makes self-hosting apps like Nextcloud, Matrix, Bitcoin/Lightning node, Pi-hole, HomeAssistant etc. accessible to everyone.
Install on a Raspberry Pi, or any hardware (or cloud) that's running Linux/Debian.
Umbrel has been amazing as a Bitcoin and Lightning node but has taken a step in to the future with the App Store. It's rivalling my Synology NAS for ease of use and functionality now to the point where I have migrated my first app across, Pi-hole which is running really well.
Hats off to the Umbrel team for having the vision, drive and know-how to put this together.

In 2020, my co-founder @lukechilds123 and I started working together on Umbrel (we got lucky to have met each other right before the pandemic).
We wanted to build a personal/home server OS that could allow us to self-host our own private cloud with apps like Nextcloud, a messaging server with Matrix, home automation with HomeAssistant, a Bitcoin/Lightning node, and more.
🚀 We launched in 2020 with a focus on the Bitcoin space and have grown to over 17,000 users since.
You can install Umbrel on a Raspberry Pi 4 with zero technical skills, or on anything that’s running Ubuntu/Debian.
