I have not been as productive as I would have liked this week. Sunday to Wednesday I was feeling under the weather: fatigued, head cold, and a headache. It wasn’t Covid. I did a couple of tests during the week. Just a regular cold, but it slowed me down. 

I did complete one chapter for Diary of a Martian. This chapter marks a transition point leading into the final sequence and conclusion of the story. It’s not a long chapter, but it serves to position some characters in the right place, and remind the reader of a few facts before all hell breaks loose in the story.

I am so tantalisingly close to the end of the book now; it is quite exciting. While I was feeling ill, I got a notepad out and started making notes for the sequel. I have the basic premise written as well as some notes on the wants/needs/growth of the characters. It’s not super detailed, but it gives me a sense of direction for the next story. Can’t wait to get started, but I must finish the first story first.

I always envisaged this as a trilogy. The first book stands on its own with a complete arc, but I do setup some hooks and questions that will be the launchpad for the second book. 

I wrote nothing for my writing craft book this week as I didn’t feel up for it. Not to worry as there is no deadline for that project, so if I slow down one week, I am sure I can speed up another. Onwards and upwards.
