财经网科技5月13日讯 ，据新浪科技消息，此前一直有关于苹果将推出只支持 eSIM 的 iPhone 机型的传言，也就是手机没有实体 SIM 卡槽。然而，在 eSIM 这项技术出现的几年前，苹果创始人史蒂夫-乔布斯就曾希望初代 iPhone 没有 SIM 卡插槽，不使用物理 SIM 卡。
这个信息是由苹果前 iPod 副总裁 Tony Fadell 透露的，他最近在计算机历史博物馆（Computer History Museum）的特别活动中接受记者 Joanna Stern 的采访时讲述了这个故事。
据 Fadell 说，在 iPhone 的早期开发过程中，由于史蒂夫-乔布斯的设计偏好，他反对在设备中设计 SIM 卡插槽的想法。用这位 “iPod 之父”的话说，乔布斯告诉正在开发 iPhone 的工程师和设计师，“我们不希望在上面再开一个洞”。
