☕️ Busy? Here's the TL;DR:
- The more teachers communicate home, the more students succeed
- Summer biweekly school newsletters keep communication going
- Duplicatable & translatable, they'll help prevent summer slide
- Use this Summer Learning template to get the comms going.
Did you know...? Research shows the more teachers are in communication with parents & caregivers, the more successful kids are in school.
Arguably, the more teachers are in communication over the summer, the less kids will experience summer slide. Biweekly school newsletters in summer are an easy way to keep students engaged until they’re back in the building.
Best of all, they’re easy to duplicate, update, and share with parents.
What’s in our summer learning template
Summer’s a great time to get kids involved in learning about (and exploring!) the natural world. So, we focused our starter template on summer safety.

We’ve got one section with kid-friendly resources for learning about the sun & another with info about bees and other cool summer insects.
Each section is followed by an invitation for kids to submit a cartoon or picture based on what they’ve learned.

1 in 5 students speaks another language at home.
This is another reason why regular summer updates matter. If the newsletter is translatable, you’re giving multilingual parents the tools to support their child’s ongoing learning. You’re also giving kids a low-stakes way to connect with their English learning.
So, what’s stopping you? Get started with your first summer newsletter right here:
