A blockchain is a distributed database that stores information electronically in a digital format and is shared among the nodes of a computer network. This video focuses on discussing how to solve one of the major issues in society regarding the illegal supply of drugs in the market. The project is created using Ethereum smart contracts to reduce the supply of drugs illegally. This project tracks the cycle of medicine from raw materials used to the hands of consumers. Every step of the medicine cycle, the status of the medicine is tracked. Various features of blockchain help to solve the issue of illegal supply:
1) The decentralization property of blockchain helps to prevent counterfeiting of the supply of medicine in the market. 2) Data immutability gives medicine sales a reliable and trustworthy environment to trade. 3) Events are triggered at every steps to keep a log of changes in blockchain data.
Blockchain technology helped to overcome challenges like increased gas prices and scalability of the application.
