The latest preview build for Beta and RP includes them

Microsoft is getting ready to release a major Windows 11 update later this week, and a recent build shipped to users enrolled in the Windows Insider program in the Beta and Release Preview channels includes some of the most important improvements.

Among them there are plenty of taskbar refinements, including support for showing the clock and the date on the taskbar of other monitors when a multi-monitor configuration is being used.

The official changelog of the latest preview build for these insiders reveals that Microsoft is also adding better support for the weather displayed on the taskbar, as well as new Microsoft Teams capabilities.

“We added weather content to the left side of the taskbar if the taskbar is aligned in the center. When you hover over the weather, the Widgets panel will appear on the left side of the screen and will disappear when you stop hovering over the area,” the company explains.

“We added the ability to quickly share open application windows directly from your taskbar to a Microsoft Teams call. We fixed an issue that causes incorrect tooltips to appear in an empty area on the taskbar after you hover over other icons like battery, volume, or Wi-Fi.”

Still no official release date

And last but not least, Microsoft is now adding support for muting and unmuting Microsoft Teams calls from the taskbar, a feature that will certainly be part of the upcoming OS update.

“We added the ability to instantly mute and unmute a Microsoft Teams call from your taskbar. During a call, an active microphone icon will appear on the taskbar so that you can easily mute the audio without having to return to the Microsoft Teams call window,” the company said.

The public launch of this big Windows 11 update doesn’t have a specific date just yet, but it shouldn’t be too far anyway.
