@yarobagriy In order to answer your question, I would like to explain a bit.

There could be different categories of communities, by enlarge I would classify them as

1. Business networks 2. B2B Customer communities 3. Alumni networks 4. Consumer products community 5. Interest groups 6. Creator community 7. Celebrity community 8 Fun/Gamer/Friend clubs (Similar to 5 but more on entertainment)

Engagement happens differently in all the above communities and needs are different. Conversation also flows differently.

I can break conversations as conversations that are committed, instant but not commited, that are short living, that has longer shelf life.

Commited is a video/audio call, instant but not commited is a chat, short livings are social media posts, longer shelf life are discussions, brainstorming, blog, long form article.

First two community categories (business networks and business customer communities) rely majorly on third type of conversation and they also create engagements with events which are both physical and virtual. I would say alumni and consumer product category also relies on events. Other categories rely more on committed and instant conversations for driving engagement. When I say driving engagement it means to help their members.

As you know different platforms serve different purposes. Discord has handled committed and instant conversation so very well because discord also takes of different aspects of community principles such as less spamming (slowed messages feature), acceptance of rules, some workflow to acknowledge member as legitimate, if we see these are needed in open community types from 4-8. Thats the when we try to create a server on discord the categories they show are pretty much these. So when we use discord for first 3 it would not make sense.

Slack cannot be compared to discord, its a messaging platform which has addressed instant communication and committed conversation, it cannot be considered as community platform as it doesn't offer benefits for open communities (4-8) or closed communities (1-3).

So if we use slack or discord for first 3 specially first 2, it needs a lot of workaround as they are not built for it.

So our offering is for first two types of communities, handling instant, short-living social conversations and long shelf-life discussions, in addition to showcasing members which is required in business networks, organizing events etc. We don't have features that support committed conversation which is a video or audio room, however that could be supported by integration with virtual meeting platforms.
