Little in Visual Design
Language of Typography and Colors

Intro
Helloo.. friends, hope you are doing great. After going through so many adventures like City of Frames, Journey Mapping, and whatnot, our friend Little here is again stuck. This time, he is trying to figure out the language of Typography and Colors.
Isn’t it fascinating, how in certain circumstances, one color can give us a sense of danger and another could feel like a mother’s embrace? How do you get goosebumps with fear, by just looking at a font and Why do certain fonts appear friendly?
Let’s talk more about it in this article with some of my project's work, which I have done on these topics.
Understanding
Our brain gets input from our senses, then it tries to comprehend it, based on the information saved, during previous interactions and experiences. This new info is also saved for future references.
So, how does it relate to Visual Design?
I will try to explain it with a couple of examples -
- In general, we relate the color Green as relaxing — one reason for this is that our eyes became accustomed to this color of nature and the brain started relating green as nature; which is caring, nourishing, and relaxing for most of us, humans.
- Some fonts are considered professional(generally sharp edge) while others as friendly and playful(generally round edge) —one reason for this is that sharp things can hurt and also, can be used as a tool, so our brain becomes alert while encountering sharp edges/corners and feels relaxed in the presence of soft edges/corners.
My Projects
In the first two weeks of Unit-3 in Design Shift Academy, I completed a few projects related to Visual Design —
1 ) Cloning of website pages — to understand visuals.

2 ) Conversion of the clone into mobile app page — to understand the concept of Adaptive and Responsive design.

3 ) Cloning of an unconventional screen— to understand the difference in their design.

4 ) Selecting, comprehending, and applying various fonts in the clones we made, on the basis of the emotions they evoke and a little research — to sensitize our eyes toward fonts.

5 ) Make mood boards for the selection of a color pallet that resonates with what we want to convey — to sensitize our eyes toward colors.

6 ) Redesign a webpage using the knowledge of typography and colors we got from the previous projects.

7 ) Redesign of a Book Cover

8 ) Redesign a Ticket

So these were the glimpses of the work I have done on Visual Designing. Hope you got a little in Visual Design and also, loved the work.
Thank You………..till next time.
