灾难新闻中的手语翻译
在不懂手语的人看来，手语使用者夸张的表情、舞动的双手本身具有某种可供享受的娱乐性，即使对于聋人社群来说，手译的语言资质、准入条件、职业伦理等都是极为严肃、不容玩笑的议题。在《结绳志 》的这篇文章中，语言学者侯詠絮（Lynn Hou）与残障史学者屋大维·罗宾森（Octavian Robinson）便以此为切入，追问：当手语与手语翻译被默认为轻浮、搞笑的原材料，当以听人为中心的社交媒体不加反思地传播错误的手语梗图和表情包，当新冠疫情时期各国政府依然在使用滥竽充数的手语翻译，我们是否成为了提高聋人参与社会信息门槛的帮凶？
