Baidu's AI voice assistant Xiaodu completes funding at USD5.1 billion valuation
6 hours agoXiaodu Technology, artificial intelligence voice assistant of Chinese tech giant Baidu, has completed series B financing round that boosted its valuation at USD5.1 billion.

Xiaodu Technology saw its valuation nearly doubled within a year after it closed series A funding round in November, 2020 that valued it at around USD2.9 billion.
Xiaodu is the developer of DuerOS, a voice assistant system based on AI that supports television, speakers and other smart home appliances. Baidu said Xiaodu AI assistant has been equipped with more than 400 million devices and widely used in multiple field such as smart home appliance, hotel and real estate, in-car system and portable devices.
At the Baidu’s annual world conference this year, Xiaodu technology unveiled a new set of AI-powered product including a giant 86-inch 4k ultra-HD smart TV, a vocabulary smart pencil that enable an instant language translation by scanning a paragraph of article, a tablet that enable 360 screen rotations as well as a new pair of noise isolating earbud.
Context:
Unveiled at Baidu World 2021 held in Beijing, Baidu showcased a L5 robocar prototype that possess advanced autonomous driving technologies, face recognition technology analyzing biological characteristic of users, as well as self-learning and continuous self-improvement abilities.
Baidu booked a total revenue of CNY31.35 billion for the second quarter of 2021, representing a year-over-year growth of 27%.
