Women who lift each other up, win together.

It is up to us, the women leaders in various industries to raise the women empowerment bar to ensure that women become and remain empowered in business settings around the globe.  This is our time to demonstrate excellence and show the world that women can and should empower other women in business.

I can remember when I was a young girl my father saying to me, “Christina, you will always have to work stronger and harder because you are a female and as you rise within your career, you will always need to be ahead of the males to be successful.”

I remember thinking to myself how unfair this was, and I knew at that time that as a woman I needed to develop grit, remain determined, and empower other women like myself to go after the goals that we wanted to achieve.  I’ve made it my personal goal to ensure that I consistently empower women in business on a daily basis.

Here are three ways that I recommend women leaders to empower other women in business:

  1. Boost self-esteem.  There are many ways to do this, but one of the most effective ways to do this is to provide consistent feedback to women colleagues that helps them grow, learn new skills, and sharpen existing skillsets. Whenever you’re having a conversation, make sure you are engaged and actively listening to what the other person is saying so that you can respond thoughtfully.
  2. Do not allow negativity to take over.  Being negative is not going to empower anyone. Like we often see on a basketball court or soccer field, it is critical to lift one another up in order to experience success and big wins as a team. Women who lift each other up, win together.
  3. Advocate for women colleagues. Give credit where credit is due. Women that are deserving of promotions based on their diligence, commitment, integrity, honor, and stellar performance, deserve to have their work acknowledged and appreciated.  Look for the women within your team, company, or network that can fill certain needs that may arise within your business or special projects that you’re a part of. If you know she can get the job done, it’s your responsibility as a woman leader to help her rise with you.

As women leaders in business, it is our responsibility to be the change that we want to see for all each other. We should no longer battle one another or try to climb over top of each other. Empowering another woman starts with each of us individually.  Show your support and love for women one action at a time. Remember, women who lift each other up, win together.
