A new Outlook version is coming to Windows 10 users soon

We’ve known for a while that Microsoft is working on a new Outlook version for Windows 10, but of course, the Redmond-based software giant hasn’t provided any specifics about this project.

But as it turns out, the company has actually shared a photo of an updated Outlook for Windows 10 version in the release notes of Outlook beta for its operating system.

Spotted by WL, the new screenshot reveals a new look for the email app, included with the rounded corners that could go live everywhere across the operating system with the release of Windows 10’s Sun Valley update.

Sun Valley is what Microsoft’s CEO himself has described as the biggest Windows 10 update since the launch of this OS, and it’s likely to introduce not only new features, but also a major overhaul of the UI across the entire operating system. Rounded corners are also expected to be part of the visual refresh.

More Outlook improvements

A few weeks ago, Microsoft announced another massive update for Outlook, as the company added the new shared calendar improvements announced a long time ago for everybody.

The company says this is the biggest change Outlook has received in 24 years.

“In July 2019, we announced the preview in Outlook for Windows which has remained opt-in until now, as we turn this on in production. Eventually, it will be just “on”, but this is a journey and arguably the biggest change to Outlook for Windows since its initial release in 1997, so we want our every step to be cautious,” it said.

“With Version 2103 (March 2021 update), the new experience reached feature parity with the classic experience, so we have removed the preview label that was previously shown next to shared calendars that were enabled for the new experience. Since summer 2019, we polished the experience and fixed bugs, thanks to many customer reports. With tens of thousands of daily users on the preview, we feel confident now that the experience is going to delight calendar delegates.”

Of course, Microsoft has remained tight-lipped on the new Outlook UI.
