Fitbit Releases Major Software Update with SpO2 Data, Google Assistant Responses

Fitbit has officially announced a new software update for its latest Sense and Versa 3 smartwatches, and this time, both devices are provided with quite a bunch of new features.

First and foremost, it’s SpO2 tracking, which is now possible right on the smartwatch.

“You can now access your SpO2—the level of oxygen in your blood—from more places. In addition to the SpO2 clock face and within the Health Metrics Dashboard in the Fitbit app, you can now see your nightly average and trends from the past week in the on-wrist Today dashboard. With Premium, your Health Metrics dashboard shows your trends from the past month and personal ranges to help you interpret your data,” Fitbit explains.

Then, those who own a Versa 3 could get a notification whenever their heart rate suddenly drops or increases. For example, one such notification reads that “we detected that your heart rate fell below 40 bpm while you appeared to be inactive from 5:00 to 5:30.”

Software update available today

The Google-owned company has also added support for audible responses from Google Assistant. As you probably know, while Fitbit devices also Alexa, Google Assistant is likely to get much more love in the long term for an obvious reason.

And thanks to this new update, Google Assistant can offer audio responses, so Fitbit trackers now act more like a smart device with the assistant built-in.

Fitbit has also added new celebrations for your achievements in terms of workouts, as well as improvements for the clock face switcher.

“Changing your clock face from day to night from gym to work or all of the above has never been easier. This new feature lets you swap your clock face without leaving the main screen. Simply press and hold the clock face for a few seconds to open the Clocks app to choose from a selection of your favorite clock faces,” the company says.

The new update is already available for download today for the two said models.
