猫扑在网站首页发表声明宣布关闭发帖功能，声明称“为了防止垃圾信息泛滥，营造良好的网络环境，本站将于2021年4月20日起正式关闭发帖功能，由此给您带来的影响，我们表示深深的歉意, 敬请谅解。”对于一个主要由用户发帖的论坛类网站来说，这是一则死亡声明。猫扑曾经是非常受欢迎的中文论坛，创造过很多风靡一时的网络流行词，如 233。而今天网站首页上推荐的内容都是一个月前的。在这之前另一个中文论坛凯迪宣布关闭了它最受欢迎的子论坛猫眼看人等频道。
