我们曾介绍过如何为 Windows 10 添加 AV1 视频编解码器支持，不过这种方式是在软件层面上实现的软解码。而微软通过对互联网流量的观测，已经注意到全球视频流量的激增，作为 AOMedia 联盟成员，现已对外确认，将为 Windows 10 系统提供 AV1 视频的硬件解码支持，这对使用了最新 GPU 的 Win 10 用户来说，无疑是一大利好消息。

Windows 10 AV1视频硬解支持

全球主流互联网和操作系统厂商为了应对视频质量处理和对带宽的消耗，创立了采用 AV1 编码格式的开放媒体联盟（AOMedia），据该联盟 2015 年成立至今，所开发的 AV1 视频格式对于同样的视频内容，（官方评测）其压缩效果比 H.264 好 50%，要比 VP9 好20%。

微软消息称：「启用对 AV1 的硬件支持可以让用户获得这种改进后的视频编解码器的优势，将解码工作从软件转移到硬件上，通常可以降低移动设备的功耗，增加电池寿命。」

以下是为 Windows 10 开启 AV1 视频硬件解码的提前条件：

  • 硬件使用了以下 GPU 或 CPU 之一：
    • 带有 Intel Iris Xe 显卡的第 11 代 Intel Core 处理器
    • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 系列 GPU
    • AMD Radeon RX 6000 系列显卡
  • 软件使用：
    • Windows 10 build 1909 或更高版本
    • AV1视频扩展
    • 支持 AV1 硬件加速的网络浏览器或其他应用程序

Windows 10 用户可能需要定期对显卡驱动进行更新，以获得最新的功能和改进。随着 OTT 流媒体平台发布更多采用 AV1 编码的视频内容，用户就更能够从硬解 AV1 视频的方式中受益。
