OnePlus' latest concept phone can change its color

Last year around CES, OnePlus introduced the Concept One, its first concept phone. It was similar to the OnePlus 7T Pro, but the main feature was that it had a disappearing camera. The name was a nod to the company's first product, the OnePlus One. You might have expected the firm's second concept phone to be called the Concept Two, but apparently, the name was also a concept.

Today, OnePlus introduced the OnePlus 8T Concept. Just like last year, the new one is based on this year's premium device, and it has a color-changing back. You might recall that last year's Concept One's disappearing camera worked by using electrochromic glass, which sent an electric current through the glass to tint it.

The OnePlus 8T Concept is similar, but instead of glass, it's using a film on the back. It also supports millimeter waves, except no, we're not talking about 5G here. It's a sensor that's on the back of the phone that works like a kind of radar. The company showed an example where it detected someone breathing with the sensor pointed at them.

That's really about it. You might recall that with last year's OnePlus Concept One, it was all about a couple of key features. Under the hood, this is still a OnePlus 8T. And of course, this product will not be sold. That's the nature of a concept device, and concept devices tend to be the nature of CES, so expect to see more over the next few weeks.
