Samsung announced today that its free smart TV video service has landed in two additional countries. Samsung TV Plus is now available in Brazil and Australia, with a total of 742 channels worldwide.

The service was previously available only in the U.S., Canada, U.K., France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, and Korea. The latest expansion brings TV Plus to a total of 12 countries. Samsung noted that it's now accessible to its more than 60 million smart TV customers, no subscription needed.

Regarding today's announcement, Seline Sangsook Han, Senior Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, said:

“Throughout the pandemic, we have seen how consumers spend time at home and how much they value access to great media content. We have seen TVs become the center of entertainment – from being a source of news to a streaming on-demand partner. With our latest expansion into new markets and content line-up, we hope that TV Plus continues to be a premium at-home destination for Samsung Smart TV users all over the world.”

Samsung's move to expand the availability of TV Plus comes a few months after the service launched on certain Galaxy smartphones including the Galaxy Note10 series, S20 series, Note20 series, and the S10/S10 5G. TV Plus comes pre-installed on Samsung's smart TVs since 2016.

Next year, the South Korean tech giant plans to launch TV Plus in Mexico, India, Sweden, and more countries in Europe. For Galaxy device owners, Samsung is planning to introduce new features in the next few months. It also promises to add support for more Galaxy devices in the future.
