复星医药与和辉瑞合作开发疫苗的德国制药商 BioNTech 达成供货协议，获得政府许可后，后者将向中国提供至少 1 亿剂疫苗。暂时还不知道中国何时会批准这种有效率超过九成的疫苗。如果获得批准，这可能意味着，中国政府希望确保民众能获得一种安全的疫苗，以防本国候选疫苗未能达标或无法满足需求。到目前为止，中国的疫苗开发者还没有公布任何疫苗的有效率数据。在中国开发的五种疫苗中，国药控股的疫苗获得了阿联酋和巴林岛的批准，初步数据显示疫苗有效率约 86%。
