为了遵守欧洲隐私法律的变动，Facebook Messenger 和 Instagram 将在欧洲关闭部分功能。从 12 月 21 日起，消息应用在欧洲将需要遵守被称为 ePrivacy 指令的新规定。Facebook 决定关闭部分互动功能，暂时只提供核心消息服务。群聊投票是关闭的功能之一。核心的短消息和呼叫功能不受影响。社交巨人在一份声明中称，它仍然在寻找带回这些功能的最佳方式。
