Series 6 swipe up and down for notification and control centers not working?
Sometimes I can swipe up or down for notification or control center, but sometimes I can't with the Series 6. It feels like a software issue. When the watch display is on the always-on display mode, it has no problem with the swipes.
Even after I restarted the watch, it happens again sometimes. Does anyone else with the Apple Watch Series 6 have this issue too?

When you are having problems swiping up or down are you in an app or on your watch face?
If you’re in an app you need to put your finger at the top or bottom of the display and pause for a second before you can swipe up or down. Swiping up and down in an app is a new feature in WatchOS 7.
If you’re on a watch face you should be able to swipe up or down without needing to pause.

This is while the watch face is on and the display is active. While the display is not actively on, always-on mode, I have no issues swipe down for Notification Center or swiping up for control center. When you are having problems swiping up or down are you in an app or on your watch face?

I'm seeing this on my Series 3 watch at 7.0.1. I can swipe left/right on the faces and swap to other faces. But sometimes it gets into a condition where it won't recognize swipe down or up on the watch face. One time it just magically started working again, but most times I've had to restart the watch to restore this capability.

Same here on my series 5. Did it on 7.0.0 and now on 7.0.1. Sometimes it would work on the always on display but once I 'woke' the watch, then it wouldn't work. Weird.
I filed a report via "applefeedback://"; I suggest you do too
Yeah, I’ve been having thsi with my new AW 6 since getting it. I have done the 7.0.1 update, but it hasn’t stopped it from happening. A reboot is the only thing that seems to fix it for now. Sort of annoying.

Do you have zoom enabled?
It becomes unreliable when zoom is enabled. It was also a problem in watchOS6 (but not watchOS5). Now that I am testing I still have problem, but if I swipe all the way across the screen it seems to work reliable.

Me too. AW6 SBTi. Hoping it gets fixed in a point update soon.Sometimes I can swipe up or down for notification or control center, but sometimes I can't with the Series 6. It feels like a software issue. When the watch display is on the always-on display mode, it has no problem with the swipes.

I’ll try turning off zoom and see if that reduces the problem.

I also tried this and additionally restarted the Watch. That was three days ago and the problem did not occur anymore. Before that I had the problem several times a day.I’ll try turning off zoom and see if that reduces the problem.
Zoom is the problem. Had same issue

Yes, I have not had the issue since turning off the zoom feature. It’s only been a few days, but still I was getting it daily or several times a day prior to turning off the zoom.Zoom is the problem. Had same issue

I just turned off zoom and restarted the watch. I'm going to give it a couple of days and see how it works now.I’ll try turning off zoom and see if that reduces the problem.

I had this exact same problem with my Apple Watch Series 6 from the first day I got it on October 4, 2020. After three days I called Apple and they replaced the watch and said no one ever reported this issue. I got the new watch today and right off the bat (after restoring from backup) it has the same problem. While on the watch face I have no ability to swipe up or down, just left or right to change watchfaces or select complications. I reset my watch to factory settings and was going to hope it was a software issue with my backup. I came across this post and am so happy that there might be something to try that may fix this for me until they squash this bug.
Technically, I think it is the ZOOM function and I think that it is auto enabled in either WoS 7 or with the new AW 6, I NEVER had it enabled before. But, at least after disabling it, now it works fine and I have never had the problem again.I had this exact same problem with my Apple Watch Series 6 from the first day I got it on October 4, 2020. Thanks, I was worried that my watch might be damaged

Same problem here: Watch Series 6 on 7.0.2 and iPhone SE 2nd gen on 14.1. I notice it after I receive a notification and notice the red dot on my watch face. I can swipe right or left but not up or down. I can fix it by restarting the watch, but it comes back. I don't like the Zoom feature and always disable it, but it comes back every time I restart the watch, and sometimes I forget to disable it. I just found this thread and will be more diligent about turning zoom off to see if it solves the problem. Thanks to all who found and posted that solution.

I had the same issue w/ intermittent inability to swipe up or down. As recommended I disabled Zoom (in Settings / Accessibility), rebooted, and have had no further issues. Thanks for the fix!

i had the exact same. They've replaced my watch already once when it was only a week old. Now saying to send this one back too. Same issue here. I rebooted and it worked again but only for a short while.
I have also disabled Zoom as per above and it seems to be helping.

Disabling zoom did it for me as well. Thankfully I don't use that feature.
