   I arrived at Step 11 (Install VMWare Tools) and received this error:

   The virtual machine does not have a CD-ROM drive configured. A virtual machine must have a CD-ROM drive configured for this option to work.

   It turns out that one of the preceding steps deleted the CD-ROM drive from the image. After a shutdown, I was able add a CD-ROM drive back to the parent image through edit settings. Once the VM was back up, I was able to successfully run the Install VMWare tools wizard.

   I cannot even uninstall the View agent. From the control panel, it started well to uninstall, then it hit a problem and it rolled back. There are quite a number of log files, but not sure if uninstall write to the same log files. Much appreciate advice. Thanks from Singapore.

   Wanted to share another potential solution. If the client spins and spins and then times out, remove the network adapter, close the settings, re-open and then re-add it. this has worked numerous times for me after the manual tear out has not.

   Worked like a champ — My issue was that after upgrading from Horizon View 5.3.x to 6.2.3 — a handful of VMs would not “play well” with the connection server. I kept seeing “waiting for agent”, and nothing more. (Yes, tried manually uninstalling/reinstalling both vmtoolz and the agent — no dice — and tried powe cycling, removing, adding back to view… etc…) I used the above steps (NOTE: had to boot to a PE disc in order to delete the VMware VDM key completely…) Additionally, I removed the problem VMs from view before performing all of these steps in order. And lastly, in Win7, it’s ..\Program Data as opposed to “docs and settings\…”… Thank you for this post!
