Apple Maps’ Look Around View Adds Denver, Detroit, and Other Cities

Apple Maps' answer to Google Street View adds Denver, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami to its list of cities.

Apple Maps’ Look Around feature, Apple’s answer to Google Street View, is now available in more cities in the United States---including Denver, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami.

This feature affords users a way of looking around cities as if they are on the ground themselves. Apple uses street image data taken from its mapping cars, which have been driving around many parts of the world for the past few years.

Introducing Apple Maps’ Look Around Feature

Apple officially introduced Look Around as part of Apple Maps with the launch of iOS 13 in 2019. While well-received by users, the rollout of new cities has been a gradual process.

US cities currently available in Look Around include Boston, Chicago, Denver, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Oahu, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Francisco Bay Area, Santa Cruz, Seattle, and Washington, D.C.

It is also available for limited locations in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Japan. And more countries will be added at a later date.

Accessing the new cities’ Look Around view does not require a software update on the part of users. So long as you're using iOS 13 or above, simply navigate to the location on Apple Maps, tap the binoculars icon, and the Look Around perspective will appear as a window you can then opt to enlarge.
