Some days at work are stranger than others. I recently found myself shirtless on a bed in Treatwell HQ, next to my (also shirtless) boss, Simon. This was definitely one of the stranger days.

Working at Treatwell is awesome. We’re revolutionising an industry, helping tens of thousands of small businesses and solving challenging problems with great technology. But right now not enough people in the tech community know who we are and what we are up to. We’d like to change this.

Many of us in the tech team did not expect to end up working in the hair and beauty industry and are certainly not industry experts. Before I joined the Treatwell team, I didn’t know my balayage from an ombre or my shellac from a gelish and, I’ll be honest, I’m still not entirely sure what a vampire facial entails.

A few months ago Lucinda from our team had the brilliant idea of making a series of videos poking fun at ourselves by featuring team members talking about tech whilst getting beauty treatments done. We felt this would be a great way to get a little attention and help spread our message.

After a bit of brainstorming, we came up with a couple of twists on the initial idea and before we knew it project “back, sack and stack” was born! With a lot of help from our creative team we then developed various ideas, whittled them down to our favourites, wrote scripts and created storyboards.

Eventually, the week of filming arrived. Working with the brilliant crew at Fondness we shot one video each evening in the office. It was quite the production! We’re very happy with the results and hope you enjoy them too!

And, of course, if you want to know more about life in Tech at Treatwell, you can find us at treatwell.com/tech and @TreatwellTech.
