Scammers set up Westpac site to steal customers' credentials

Scammers are taking advantage of the busy shopping season and trying to relieve customers of Westpac of some of their earnings, setting up a site that looks very much like the real thing to try and lure customers into entering their credentials.
The bogus site was spotted by the security researchers at Malware Hunter Team.
The fake site uses the URL https://westpac.[com.au-verify].services/ (without the square brackets which have been put in to prevent anyone clicking on it in error).
Users of the Firefox browser will receive a warning when they try to access this site.
It is one of several phishing sites that have been set up during this month. Anyone who inputs their credentials in this site will be sending them straight to the miscreants who have set it up.

iTWire understands that Westpac is aware of the existence of the site and is in touch with the authorities in a bid to get it taken down.
This kind of site is said to be fairly common all over the globe, all with the aim of trying to steal a little bit of others' hard-earned.
