One of the many benefits of using Cloud Identity, our identity and access management service, is the ability to add and remove users to a wide variety of software as a service (SaaS) applications—so-called user lifecycle management. Today, we are pleased to announce that we’ve partnered with Dropbox to allow you to provision and de-provision Dropbox users directly from the Cloud Identity or G Suite admin console.

Now, when you add, modify, or delete a user in the admin console, these changes are automatically reflected in Dropbox, making it easier to manage access as employees join, move, or leave the company. This release strengthens the existing partnership between Google Cloud and Dropbox, which we already support for single sign-on (SSO).

Underpinning this partnership is SCIM 2.0, an industry-standard protocol for user lifecycle management that Cloud Identity has supported since 2016. If an app supports SCIM, you don’t need to build a custom connector to use it with Cloud Identity or G Suite. You automatically get full lifecycle management capabilities from a unified admin console. Here’s how it looks in the console:

Dropbox is just one of a long list of SaaS apps that Cloud Identity supports. This is also available for G Suite customers at no extra charge. Find out more about the specifics here.
