在7月份的最后1天，Linux Mint Debian Edition 3 BETA终于上线。同传统Linux Mint基于Ubuntu不同，LMDE基于Debian系统，更准确地说是LMDE 3 BETA基于Debian Stretch。尽管Debian版Mint完全可以日常使用，但事实上它更多的是当做Ubuntu版本的替代版本。
项目负责人 Clement Lefebvre表示：“LMDE没有维护版本更新。BUG修复和安全更新会和Debian基础包同步，但Mint和桌面组件会不断更新。当准备好后，最新的开发功能会直接进入LMDE，它会随Linux Mint下个维护版本更新一起发布。”
