PCI组织在去年10月份就正式发布了PCI-E 4.0，其中传输速率翻番到16GT/s，在X16模式下最高可以提供64GB/s的带宽，而现在在Linux驱动上已经出现了首款支持PCI-E 4.0接口的显卡，为AMD Vega 20。
对于这款全新的Vega 20显卡来说，具体的型号为Radeon Pro Vega 20，拥有16GB或者32GB的HBM2显存，同时核心数目为4096个，工艺将会提升至7nm，最高带来35%的性能提升，同时这也将是世界上首款支持PCI-E 4.0的显卡。
AMD即将推出的下一代服务器平台7nm Zen 2 EPYC(代号Rome)也将支持PCI-E 4.0，SSD领域的王者三星也将打算让自己下一代的旗舰SSD支持最新的PCI-E 4.0接口。
