IBM 宣布将在不久之后向客户提供 20 超导量子比特的量子计算机，称已构建和测试了 50 量子比特的量子处理器原型。IBM 将会在年底通过 IBM Q 向客户提供 20量子比特计算机，但没有透露多少 50 量子比特原型的细节。新处理器的量子比特比过去几代更稳定，量子处理器的稳定性用相干时间衡量，相干时间是量子比特停留在叠加态未塌陷到 1 或 0 之前的平均时长。IBM 的 5 量子比特和 15 量子比特机器的相干时间分别为 50 和 47 微秒，而 20 和 50 量子比特的相干时间提高到 90 微秒。
