英特尔公司在 BSD 3-clause 许可证下开源了它的硬件辅助虚拟化引擎 Hardware Accelerated Execution Manager (HAXM)，源代码托管在 GitHub 上。开源 HAXM 意味着 QEMU 模拟器将无需任何私有组件就能在 Windows 和 macOS 上支持硬件加速。Windows 版本的 QEMU 是从 2.9 版起引入 HAXM 加速器，macOS 版本则会在未来加入。
